Many techniques, only one direction: forward!
INDIVIDUAL ABA APPROACH
An Individualized ABA approach
Pillar 5 was created to bring a family-centric applied behavior analysis (ABA) approach to improve the lives of children and families with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD), and other developmental disabilities. Our goal is to help clients with developmental disorders live happier, more independent lives by working together to provide a complete ABA treatment program. We recognize the significance that each family member plays in the development of our clients because they are their most essential and consistent models of behavior. We individualize solutions that are adaptable to the client’s natural environment, considering the family's wants, needs, and strengths.
Wherever is best for our clients…we go: In-home, in-school, in-community, in-center
In-Home
We bring ABA Therapy to the home where clients feel the most comfortable. Our technicians will also train caregivers on the most effective techniques to help encourage positive behavior growth beyond treatment hours.
In-School
As a school shadow, we can serve our clients as a 1:1 aide during the school day and after school programs. Our support is centered around meeting IEP goals including on-task behavior, functional communication, inattention, hyperactivity, and social interactions.
In-Community
Side-by-side with our Behavior Technicians, our clients can actively work on and develop important skills in their everyday community environment. Depending on age or need, this can include the playground, daycare, youth programs, shopping, and more.
In-Center
Clients can also experience the benefits of a structured, distraction free supportive environment with our in-center treatment option. Our center provides a controlled setting ideal for working on skill-building activities, promoting positive behaviors, opportunities for social interactions with peers, and ensuring progress.
A team approach: Guiding our clients from point A to all they can B.
COLLABORATION
Collaboration: Educators and other professionals
At Pillar 5, we consider educators and other professionals to be a vital component of our approach and of our client’s "support network." We strive to support educators, speech- language pathologists, occupational therapists and other special education professionals in providing the most effective environment possible for our clients to learn.
We drive skill-based behavior up and maladaptive behavior down depending on our clients’ needs.
DATA-DRIVEN APPROACH
A data-driven approach
For treatment to be successful, it must be individualized based on data. This aligns with the science of ABA and allows Pillar 5 to continuously modify ABA treatment plans based on progress. To evaluate the efficacy of treatment programs, BCBAs review data of treatment objectives on a regular basis. This information influences procedures, treatment priorities, and the requirement for family and technician training. BCBAs will suggest either focused (low-intensity) or comprehensive (high-intensity) ABA treatment based on each client’s needs.
Building skills and unlocking lifelong potential.
IMPORTANCE OF PIVOTAL SKILLS
The importance of pivotal skills
Clients develop the essential skills required for future learning through Pillar 5’s focus on pivotal behaviors. These are building-block behaviors which lead to an advanced skill set and increased functioning. Some pivotal behaviors include imitation, functional communication, attentiveness, tolerance, and waiting. This strategy encourages the development of play, academics, communication, social skills, and independent living abilities.
